Our approach
Four teaching groups that roughly correspond to national curriculum key stages utilise specialist sensory resources, dedicated computer equipment, specialised curriculum access devices as well as overhead hoisting and changing facilities available in every classroom.

A range of sensory approaches adopted by experienced and innovative staff ensures pupils
- are motivated to build and extend their knowledge, skills and understanding
- grow in confidence and develop independence skills
- celebrate individual and group achievements
- prepare for time when they will leave school
Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) agreed and assessed termly between staff, pupils and parents or carers identify specific objectives to be achieved. These support individual progress and are regarded as positive records of achievement.
Professional Support
Highly experienced and well-qualified teachers, physio, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and full-time nurses are amongst the 40+ members of staff who support the 32 pupils in small classes of 6 or 7.

- support from dietician and the peripatetic hearing and visual impairment services
These services are provided on site and work as part of a regular and familiar routine, or by appointment.
Family Community Links
Working in partnership with our families and the local community through our 'open door' policy to offer out-of-school activities is a vital part of our approach.

All our pupils are presented with regular opportunities for inclusion activities with friends from a number of partnership schools and organisations. The pupils from our two senior classes are offered the opportunity to participate in an annual residential visit. There are weekly opportunities to participate in extra curricular activities such as Riding for the Disabled.
Our staff are actively encouraged to use the local environment to enhance the pupil's learning experiences, and we provide our own transport to support these activities.
