Helping Hands Appeal

Living with disabilities can present enormous challenges for individuals and their families which is why it’s important that Diverse Abilities Plus is able to provide support and education services for children and adults locally with physical and/or learning disabilities.

However, it costs a great deal of money to provide this support.  Diverse Abilities Plus spends almost £10,000 per year on such daily materials as antibacterial gel and hand wash, hygiene wipes and gloves (although admittedly unexciting) are so essential to the day-to-day running of the services.  Tens of thousands of pounds more are spent on items such as sensory equipment and educational materials and toys, as well as chemicals and filters for hydrotherapy.

For this reason the Charity is launching its Helping Hands appeal to help fund these routine items that are so crucial to the operation of the Charity’s services, yet they are easily forgotten about and without which the Diverse Abilities Plus services could not function.

We need the public to lend a hand and help us raise the money needed to fund these vital bits and pieces.

  • Could you identify 10 shops, restaurants or venues where you live or that you pass on your way to work or near your kids ’clubs?
  • Will you be popping into your local pub, doctor or dentist surgery in the next couple of months?

If you would like to lend a Helping Hand by organising an event, making a donation or helping us distribute collection pots then please contact ashley.weedon@diverseabilitiesplus.org.uk or call 01202 718266.

With the average contents of a collection pot reaching a staggering £31….your support can truly make a difference!
